WELCOME TO OUR SCHOOL FEATURE PAGE ON KUNMING INTERNATIONAL ACADEMY IN CHINA:

KIA is a candidate for accreditation and has a full-time faculty and staff of 28 from Australia, Canada, China, Korea, New Zealand, Norway, and the United States. Twenty-five percent of them have earned graduate degrees beyond the bachelor’s.
Kunming’s student body is also well diversified—children from almost 20 nations comprise the enrollment of over 200 students. KIA’s graduates have been accepted to many institutions of higher learning in the US such as:
Biola University, Culver-Stockton College, Georgia Tech, Grand Canyon University, Houghton College, Liberty University, New Mexico State University, Seattle Pacific University, and Ventura College.
A Growing Need
With the kind of growth the school has been experiencing also comes the predicament of overcrowded classrooms. Waiting lists are becoming necessary due to a great lack of space. The school has expanded its facilities by adding the building next door and yet is still in need of space. In the school year 2004-2005, KIA’s lunchroom was two combined classrooms; however, for 2005-2006 the lunchroom must be moved to a large tent outdoors as all of the classrooms are desperately needed. As expatriate poverty-relief teams, airline corporations, and consulates establish themselves in Kunming, KIA is forced to turn more and more prospective students away.
Making a Place
Why doesn’t KIA just change locations altogether or just build a brand new building? They would like to. In fact, they have actually located several possible locations for a move. However, finances stand as a great obstacle in their way. A minimum of $2.5 million USD is needed to accommodate such a large undertaking, as the school needs a facility for 500 students.
You can be a part of expanding the school while expanding the Kingdom as well. Upcoming fund-raisers will be set in place in the near future. KIA is trusting God to provide for the great financial challenge of relocation. As the Lord brings more students to KIA, the faculty and staff are exercising faith that He will make a place for these new children.
